To Blog…or Not to Blog

about_alisonTo blog or not to blog- that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler to take pen to paper in search of personal growth and prosperity or to remain silent and float in a sea of troubles, and by not opposing end nothing. (???)

OK, really…for years I have been encouraged to blog and for years I have gladly declined. Honestly, when asked why I do not blog…my response has always been, because I don’t have much to say and I really don’t want to waste anybody’s time. Not to mention…the fact, that I have not wanted to add ANY more stress or pressure to my life.

In my resistance, friends and family have assured me that not only do I have interesting things to say and an interesting story to tell but, a lifestyle and point of view that people would be interested to read about.

I started BabyOBaby.com over 17 years ago when I had small children and wanted desperately to be able to work from home “around” their schedules and needs. Back then, I was working as a social worker, making almost nothing and paying more than half of my salary to my day care provider. Because, I had very little money, I was hand making personalized baby blankets and quilted baby gifts for my friends and family who were having babies. They told me repeatedly that I should “sell this stuff”. I will save the whole story for another day but, that was when BabyOBaby.com was conceived. The rest is history (or so the saying goes).

Now many years have passed and I have learned a lot! I have thoroughly enjoyed working from home and raising my boys. I believe that I have done a pretty good job. Such a good job that they only seek me out, for advice, home baked goodies and/or a little spending money, on rare occasions. So, I find myself finally, with some “extra” time on my hands. Such an incredible problem to have, right?! I now plan to fill some of that time writing, exploring, cooking, enjoying life and sharing.

I do hope that you will join me, check back now and then, and that you will enjoy your time spent with me.

Carpe Diem,
Alison
