Search Engine Optimization Test

Anyone that knows me…knows that I operate A website where I sell custom embroidered baby gifts that I ship all over the world. I have been doing business on the web since 1997. This past summer babyobaby gift bagwe celebrated our 18th Anniversary.

While, over the years I have tried to study up on website design and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), I never have been able to completely master or keep up with changing trends and technology. I have opted to rely on top notch customer service and premium personalized baby gifts that people love and appreciate so much they come back every time they need a baby gift. This and word-of-mouth have pretty much been my Marketing & Advertising Plan for the majority of the life of my business.

You can imagine that I get many emails and phone calls everyday from folks who want to help improve my SEO. I’ll admit that I find the majority of them rather rude in their approach. While I have invested in these sorts of programs in the past…I have not found any that deliver on their promises.

So, by chance I opened a message (that arrived as a review of a product) that bondoffered a free trial period AND 500 visitors in 7 days. The company, Bond SEO, claims that they can deliver 5,000 targeted visitors in 30 days for $39.99. Folks who are specifically searching for terms that I provide. I’m intrigued!

I am going to give this a shot and let you know how it works out :O). I will be watching my GoogleAnalytics closely to see what kind of activity I actually see and report back to!

Leaves Are Turning

homeThere is a window on the landing of our staircase, here at, that looks out onto a lovely old maple tree. Each Fall, I am surprised by a glimpse of red among the green. I am always a bit startled by my find and amazed that the turn begins before I am expecting it. I laugh at myself and take account of the passing of time.

Please don’t get me wrong, I love the Fall! I actually love every season and have never been able to pick a favorite.

Now, I know that the leaves will turn extraordinary colors and then, sadly, start to drop froma1967-thetree the branches. But, I will check and admire that tree every time I pass that window. I will watch as every last leaf has left every last branch. I will continue to use it as a sort of visual barometer…rain, ice, and eventually snow (and sometimes lots of it). I will wait for all the snow to melt away and then once again, I will be startled to see little red buds appear on it’s branches before I am expecting them. I know, that soon after, I can rely on the bud casings falling away with tender leaves emerging. In a few short weeks the tree will be covered in brilliant shiny green leaves again and my thoughts will turn to the glorious season ahead.

I love this tree. It is an old friend. My quiet companion in life. A reminder of the cycle. A comfort that demonstrates…some things may change but, they still can remain predictable, reliable, constant.

Hoping you are enjoying the change of season too!

To Blog…or Not to Blog

about_alisonTo blog or not to blog- that is the question: Whether ’tis nobler to take pen to paper in search of personal growth and prosperity or to remain silent and float in a sea of troubles, and by not opposing end nothing. (???)

OK, really…for years I have been encouraged to blog and for years I have gladly declined. Honestly, when asked why I do not blog…my response has always been, because I don’t have much to say and I really don’t want to waste anybody’s time. Not to mention…the fact, that I have not wanted to add ANY more stress or pressure to my life.

In my resistance, friends and family have assured me that not only do I have interesting things to say and an interesting story to tell but, a lifestyle and point of view that people would be interested to read about.

I started over 17 years ago when I had small children and wanted desperately to be able to work from home “around” their schedules and needs. Back then, I was working as a social worker, making almost nothing and paying more than half of my salary to my day care provider. Because, I had very little money, I was hand making personalized baby blankets and quilted baby gifts for my friends and family who were having babies. They told me repeatedly that I should “sell this stuff”. I will save the whole story for another day but, that was when was conceived. The rest is history (or so the saying goes).

Now many years have passed and I have learned a lot! I have thoroughly enjoyed working from home and raising my boys. I believe that I have done a pretty good job. Such a good job that they only seek me out, for advice, home baked goodies and/or a little spending money, on rare occasions. So, I find myself finally, with some “extra” time on my hands. Such an incredible problem to have, right?! I now plan to fill some of that time writing, exploring, cooking, enjoying life and sharing.

I do hope that you will join me, check back now and then, and that you will enjoy your time spent with me.

Carpe Diem,
